[origin: WO2005080232A1] The invention relates to a trash collector (1), preferably comprising a removable interior bin (4). The trash collector (1) also comprises a hinged lid (8) that is automatically displaced into the open position when the collector is actuated to open. An actuation element (18) is mounted opposite a hinge axis (10) of the lid (8) for triggering the opening movement of the lid (8). The aim of the invention is to provide a trash collector of the aforementioned type which is easy to open and the lid of which is displaced into the position of opening with little noise. For this purpose, the hinge axis (10) of the lid (8) is disposed in the interior of the lid (8). An opening rim (16) of the trash collector (1) is lined with an elastic buffer element (17) at least in the area of the hinge axis (10). A retaining arm (12) linking the lid (8) and the hinge axis (10) rests against the buffer element (17) when the collector is in the open position.
