Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1717911A2] The lighting device includes a connector (17) for coupling with a voltage supply line for a light source, and another connector (18) for coupling with a signal line to receive control information. A replaceable or adjustable safety device (25) is coupled to one connector (18) for ensuring protection against overvoltage. The connectors are arranged in the ballast (15) which operates the lighting device. The connector (18) includes input ports (22a,22b,24a,24b) connected to the signal lines and connected to a resistor (26) which short-circuits when large current flows through the input ports. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) Ballast for operating the lighting device; (2) Busbar; (3) Switching configuration of the lighting device; and (4) Busbar adapter.
