[origin: WO2005079337A2] This invention relates to a process for making a series of 1,6-disubstituted piperidin-2-one, 3,4-disubstituted 1,3-oxazinan-2-one, 3,4-disubstituted 1,3-thiazinan-2-one, and 4,5-disubstituted morpholin-3-one derivatives, which are agonists of the EP4 subtype of prostaglandin E2 receptors. The compounds are useful in the treatment of glaucoma and other conditions that are related to elevated intraocular pressure in the eye of a patient. The compounds are also useful for mediating the bone modeling and remodeling processes of the osteoblasts and osteoclasts.
