Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2005083212A1] The invention relates to a locking unit for the cover of an opening in the interior of vehicles, in particular for glove compartments or parcel shelves. To improve on prior art, the aim of the invention is to provide a locking element for the cover of an opening in the interior of vehicles that guarantees a high degree of functional reliability, is easy to mount and cost-effective to produce. To achieve this, the locking element consists of two mirror-symmetrical detent elements (8, 9) that are mounted on a common rotational shaft (10). A spring (7), which displaces the detent elements (8, 9) into a scissor-like open position, engages with at least one detent element (8). At least one detent element (8) comprises a stop (8c), which when brought into contact with the closing element (2), displaces the detent elements (8, 9) into the closed position against the action of the spring force. In said closed position, the detent elements (8, 9) grip the closing element (2) from two sides and a locking hook (6i) that is located on the spring-loaded rocker (6) locks with one of the detent elements (9). To initiate the opening displacement, the rocker (6) can be displaced against the spring action by means of an actuating element (4) and the locking hook (6i) is released from the detent position.
