[origin: WO2005079095A1] A method, base station, user equipment, radio network controller, and computer program are provided. According to the invention, data packets are communicated from a base station to user equipment over a high speed downlink packet access connection including a high speed physical downlink shared channel for data packet transfer and a high speed dedicated physical control channel for uplink signalling. The high speed physical downlink shared channel is suspended in a plurality of predefined suspension time periods while maintaining the high speed downlink packet access connection in a standby state.
