[origin: WO2005056414A1] A lid (3) for a container including a base (1) and walls (7) having a top opening defined by a rim formation (9), the lid being securable on the base and extendible across the top opening, the lid including a hinge line (2), and a flexible membrane (38) applied to and extending over the hinge line of the lid, the membrane (38) being formed of a material having an initially oriented structure to thereby support repeated flexure of the lid about the hinge (2). Also provided on the lid or rim formation is a tamper evident frangible section (45, 46) which will remain on the rim or lid respectively when the container is first opened. The lid can be made by injection moulding or thermoform process and the frangible portions provided by laser etching, cutting, drilling or stamping processes.
