Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1722077A2] The device has a blocking unit (3) connected with a compression spring (8), and a connecting rod (5). The spring is enclosed by an insulating material e.g. ceramic fiber, and arranged in a housing. The spring operates in a direction opposite to exhaust gas flow in an exhaust gas pipe (2). The spring moves the blocking unit to an open position, when gas pressure in the pipe exceeds a preset value. The connecting rod is placed in a thrust bearing and is fixed in a displaceable manner in the work direction of the compression spring. An independent claim is also included for an exhaust system with a bypass pipe including a device for blocking and unblocking exhaust gas pipe.
