[origin: WO2005084858A1] The invention relates to a clamping head for workpieces or tools, said head comprising a collet chuck carrier and collet chuck segments which are arranged on said carrier and are guided thereby, said segments comprising clamping surfaces for clamping the respective workpiece or tool. The aim of the invention is to improve one such clamping head in such a way that the clamping forces exerted by the collet chuck segments can be adjusted and displaced in a variable manner. To this end, each collet chuck segment is supported on the collet chuck carrier by a supporting element creating defined friction ratios in all relative positions of the collet chuck segments in relation to the collet chuck carrier.
