The device comprises a spinning device and a cooling device, wherein the spinning device has at least one spinneret for extruding the filaments. A perforated cylinder arranged below the spinneret and having a gas-permeable casing is provided in order to cool the recently extruded filaments. A U-shaped baffle plate is assigned to the perforated cylinder, said baffle plate partly surrounding the casing and forming a blow hole on one end. he blow hole is connected to a cooling flow generator that blows cooling air flowing crosswise relative to the running direction of the filaments into the blow hole. In order to distribute cooling air as evenly as possible along the periphery of the perforated cylinder, a current divider is arranged in the blow hole through which the cooling air entering the blow hole is divided before it reaches the perforated cylinder.
