Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1726223A2] The device (2) is a filter-tow preparation unit and comprises two parallel positioned segments (2a,2b) each provided with a guiding area (4a,4b) for a filter-tow strip (6a,6b) pulled from one of two bales (8a,8b) located at one end of the unit (2). Each strip (6a,6b) is guided through a softening unit (14a,14b), is surrounded by a paper cover (18a,18b), and cut into sections by two cutting devices (22a,22b). The segments (2a,2b) are arranged in a mirror inverted position, allowing an easy access to all areas.
