[origin: EP1726408A1] The air hammer has a cylindrical housing, also serving as the handle holding part (1) and accommodating the operating cylinder (2). When the cylinder (2) is axially moved inside the housing (1) a vibration compensating chamber (3) is formed which is transformed into a compression chamber when the cylinder (2) is moved towards the upper limit. A circular compression space (42) located between the outer surface of the cylinder (2) and the inner surface of the housing (1) is also created.
