Abstract (en)
Two spreading arms (1) are hydraulically moved in order to spread apart a damaged area of a vehicle where a person is trapped. Each of those arms (1) is made of a fibrous composite material. The fiber mats are arranged in a three-dimensional shape before the resin is added. The arm (1) has a main element with two lateral parts provided with an outer metal inlay (19) and a front area (13) to be inserted into a spreading element (2), also made of metal. A connecting piece (6) is made of aluminum, covered with fiber and resin. Metal sleeves (5,11) are part of the unit.
