[origin: EP1726443A1] Device for sample molding, has fixed print unit (10) having at least one stationary inkjet print head (12) comprising nozzle apertures for injecting ink, a feed device for moving work pieces along at the print unit (10), and a detection unit (30,32) for detecting sizes and/or position of the narrow sides to be sample molded, and/or the feed-speed of the work pieces on the feed device (20). A storage device (40) is provided for image data for the patterns to be applied to the narrow sides, and a control device communicates with the print head, detection device, and storage device. An independent claim is included for a method for sample molding narrow sides of work pieces.
