Abstract (en)
A shielded flat cable (10) comprises a ribbon cable (16) having at least one layer of a plurality of adjacent individual insulated wires (20), an electrically conductive shielding layer (14) surrounding the ribbon cable (16), and a ground cable (30) having a conductor (32) electrically connected to the shielding layer (14). ›t least two electrically conductive layers (46,48,50) of an electrically conductive adhesive tape (24) are adhered to at least a portion of the shielding layer (14), the adhesive tape (24) having an electrically conductive backing (26) and an electrically conductive adhesive (28) on at least one side of the backing (26), thereby forming a superimposed layer arrangement (52) comprising the shielding layer (14) and the at least two adhesive tape layers (46,48,50). The ground cable (30) is formed so as to comprise at least a first and a second portion (40,42), at least one of them at least partially being free of an insulation jacket (36), and the second portion (42) being folded back with respect to the first portion (40). For making electrical contact with the shielding layer (14) and for providing strain relief, the first and second portions (40,42) of the ground cable (30) are arranged between layers of different pairs of adjacent layers (14,46,48,50) of the superimposed layer arrangement (52).
