[origin: EP1728952A1] The hinge attaches a door, cap or gripper strip to the body of a household appliance or piece of furniture. It has a hinge part (12) fixed to the body and a hinge part (10) fixed to the door and a device to equalize the weight of doors of different weights. The device has pre-tensioned spring mechanisms (24) on both hinge parts and an adjustment mechanism (22,26) to adjust the tensioning of the spring mechanism, into which torsional motion is introduced from outside, which is translated into force using the adjustment mechanism and is then partly converted. The force is further introduced to the spring mechanism by means of linear movements using the adjustment mechanism alone, whereby the spring mechanism likewise moves in a linear direction.
