[origin: WO2005070715A1] The invention relates to a hatchback of a motor vehicle, comprising at least one hatchback part which is pivotably mounted on the rear end of the vehicle by means of a pivot bearing device and which can be pivoted from a closed position upwards into an open position, wherein said pivot bearing device has on each side two pivoting levers (8, 9) in a four or multiple hinge arrangement that is hinged on the side of the body and in which the hatchback part (13) is hinged by means of a pivoting joint (15 or 16) . The pivoting joint (15) of the first pivoting lever (8) is at least temporarily fixed on the hatchback part (3) and the pivoting joint (16) of the second pivoting lever (9) is displaceably mounted in a guide (17) arranged in the hatchback part (3) relative to the first pivoting joint (15). A control device (19) controls the pivoting movement of the second pivoting lever (9) during opening and closing of the hatchback part (3) in such a way that the pivoting joint (16) of the second pivoting lever (9) causes the hatchback part (3) to pivot about the pivoting joint (15) of the first pivoting lever (8) as a result of the change of its position relative to the pivoting joint (15) of the first pivoting lever (8).
