[origin: WO2005098163A1] The invention relates to a panel element (2) for laying on floors, walls and ceilings, said element comprising a rectangular base body (3) provided with a first head edge (4), a second head edge (5) opposing the first head edge (4), a first longitudinal edge (6) extending perpendicularly to the first head edge (4), and a second longitudinal edge (7) opposing the first longitudinal edge (6). Both head edges (4, 5) and both longitudinal edges (6, 7) are contoured in such a way that each edge can be connected to an adjacent panel element (2), the first longitudinal edge (6) comprising a groove and the second longitudinal edge (7) comprising a corresponding spring (11). The aim of the invention is to provide a panel element that can be produced in a simple manner with a plurality of different laying variants. To this end, the contours of the head edges (4, 5) are at least essentially identically embodied.
