[origin: EP1731056A1] Garden umbrella has a tension frame attached to an upright rod (12) which holds a telescopically movable support tube (14) which has an associated coaxial spindle section (15) with steeply rising thread and a free wheeling gearing. The spindle section is moved axially through a crank (44). The upright rod is fitted with a tension pawl (30) with ratchet bolt engaging in an axially parallel row of indents on the support tube.
