Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2005093242A1] The invention relates to a water-cooled cylinder head for a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine, comprising two inlet and outlet valves per cylinder, and a cylinder head cooling chamber (2) (water jacket) which is integrated into a cylinder head housing (4) provided with inlets and outlets (6, 8) for the coolant, and extends above a spherical cap (36) forming the combustion chamber cavity (20). Water jacket chambers (26, 28, 30) are formed, at least in sections, around a receiving opening (14) which is centrally arranged in the cylinder head housing (4) and used for a spark plug, and around the two outlet valves, said water jacket chambers being interconnected by means of a common annular chamber section (32). According to the invention, at least the common water jacket annular chamber section (32) has an essentially constant height up to the combustion chamber cavity (20), such that at least in this region, the wall thickness (a) of the combustion chamber spherical cap (36) is uniform and extends up to the combustion chamber cavity (20).
