Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2005098283A1] The invention relates to diesel engines for boats, in which packing glands are disposed between the scavenging air chamber and the crank housing. In said packing glands, oil-wiping rings are inserted in receiving grooves (2) on the side facing the crank housing while plastic sealing rings (10) are inserted in receiving grooves (2) on the side facing the scavenging air. The plastic sealing rings (10) comprise a peripheral recess (17) in the overlapping zone (12), a bridging element (15) being inserted in said peripheral recess (17). The peripheral recess (17) is larger than the overlapping zone (12) and also larger than the bridging element (15) that is inserted therein. The bridging element (15) is pressed onto the sliding surface (18) formed by the bottom of the peripheral recess (17) by means of coil springs (14). The bridging element (15) and the plastic sealing ring (10) are provided with circumferential grooves (16) which are aligned with the circumferential grooves (13) in the plastic sealing ring (10) in the assembled state. The bridging element (15) is pressed onto the sliding surface (18) or the raised sliding surface (23) with the aid of circumferential coil springs (14).
