Abstract (en)
The processing method uses processing units (20) linked to one another inside a data network whereby a process sequence is determined in which the mailing data are identified by the processing units (20) and first details are stored in the processing units through a further processing unit and are assigned link data to establish a data link to a second processing unit. The link data are prepared by an administration unit (30) and the first processing unit establishes the data link to the second processing unit by using the link data in order to send the image of the surface of the letter to the second processing unit or to retrieve this image from the second processing unit. The data network can link processing units located in two or more different mail processing centres. The link data for establishing the data link to the second processing unit can be a network address of the second unit.
