Abstract (en)

The method involves moving a locally variable stop (79) into a non-functional position and setting the cylinder or roller against a locally fixed stop in a neutral position. The locally variable stop is then moved in a stop position into the setting path of the cylinder in the neutral position and is then moved further from this stop position by a predetermined amount into an operating position to generate the desired contact pressure. Independent claim describes device for adjusting a cylinder or roller where the latter is mounted adjustable in position along a setting path on a linear bearing having rolling bodies. A first stop defines the setting path of the cylinder and another locally variable stop which restricts the setting path has a movable part bearing against the first stop.
