Abstract (en)
A paper mill has a head-box discharging a fibrous suspension through a horizontal slit (10). The headbox incorporates a dilution station discharging liquid through a number of outlets into a side-by-side array of mixing chambers (5). Each mixing chamber receives a flow (CT) of differing consistency and discharges a flow of another second consistency (TM). The mixer chambers (5) are located upstream of a full-width mixing chamber (7) receiving the second consistency suspension and incorporates vortex generators (8) discharging via outlet jets (9) to the horizontal slit (10). The full-width mixer chamber (7) has a series of upright guide vanes (16) with swivel-yaw fixtures.
