Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2005101092A1] The invention relates to a signaling device (1) for displaying and/or outputting warning signals and/or information in vehicles by means of optical and/or acoustic signal sources. According to the invention, a signal provided for example by a collision avoidance system, is used to output direction-related information for the driver of a vehicle. Said information is connected with an event related to a certain object to which event attention is to be drawn. Figure 1 is a schematic representation of the top view of a signaling device (1) comprising a vehicle windshield (2) and display elements (4) distributed therein, and an enlarged detail drawing (10) in a sectional side view of a display element (4a) arranged in the vehicle windshield (2). The right-hand portion of Figure 1 shows the top view of the vehicle windshield (2) across a substantial part (3) of which display elements (4) are distributed. Only the display element (4a) is active. For this purpose, a light beam is guided, starting from a fiber-optical waveguide (5), onto the display element (4) which becomes visible to the driver of the vehicle due to the illumination by the light beam. The remaining display elements (4) are invisible to the driver of the vehicle. The vehicle windshield (2), in this drawing, is configured as a two-layer laminated windshield between the two parts (2, 2) of which both the display elements (4) and the fiber-optical waveguides (5) are arranged.
