[origin: EP1736259A1] In continuous casting apparatus with a strand guide (1) consisting of groups (2) of roller pairs (3) forming fixed and loose sides (4, 5) and roller mounting segment frames (6), where loose and fixed side frames (6a, 6b) are relatively adjustable with hydraulic piston-cylinder drives (7), a coupling (8) between the fixed side and the drive on the opposite loose side is releasable to exchange segment frames and the uncoupled drive can be brought into a 'parked' position. Continuous casting apparatus for liquid metal comprises a strand guide (1) for supporting and/or guiding the cooling cast strand, consisting of groups (2) of roller pairs (3) forming fixed and loose sides (4, 5) and segment frames (6) for mounting each roller group. The loose side frame (6a) is adjustable relative to the fixed side frame (6b), with pairs of hydraulic piston-cylinder drives (7) for positioning the base and adapting the cast strand format thickness or the segment conicity in the casting pause or in continuous casting operation. At least one of the segment frames (6a, 6b), together with the roller pair (3), is exchangeable. The novel features are that: (a) a coupling (8), between a forked head (9) (or a forked head rod (9b) forming an extension (9a)) on the fixed side and the piston-cylinder drive on the opposite loose side, is releasable to replace the segment frames; and (b) the uncoupled hydraulic piston-cylinder drive can be brought into a 'parked' position (10) outside the strand guide.
