Abstract (en)
In a process to manufacture temperature-sensitive paper, a temperature-sensitive coating is applied to the paper by a non-contact curtain coater. The temperature-sensitive coating is then rendered smooth by a wide-nip calender operating at an average pressure of at least 3.5 Mpa. The wide nip has a length of 30 to 150 mm and operates at a temperature up to 80[deg]C and a line load of at least 250 N/mm. No further moisture is applied to the paper web between the curtain coater and calender.
