The air heat pump-evaporator device has an air heat exchanger arrangement formed as a multiple heat exchanger assembly (6), especially a triple heat exchanger assembly, which is additionally flow-washed by at least one additional heat-yielding medium (12) of an additional heat source (13) which in dependence upon an operating mode predetermined by means of a control and/or regulating unit of the air heat pump heating system (1) feeds heat to the air (8) and/or to the main working medium (2). An independent claim is included for a method for operating an air heat pump heater.
