[origin: WO2005097643A1] Disclosed is an arrangement for automatically strapping packages with one respective tightening strap made of a thermoplastic material. The tightening strap is wound in a roller-shaped manner on a first reel while a first device (1) is provided for rotatably receiving the first reel from which the tightening strap can be unwound piece by piece for wrapping a package. Said arrangement is characterized in that a mechanism (10) is provided for coupling a tightening strap that is wound on a second reel to the tightening strap of the first reel, said mechanism (10) comprising a second device (2) for rotatably receiving the second reel, a docking device (3) for placing one respective section of the tightening strap of the first reel and a free final section of the tightening strap of the second reel on top of each other in an overlapping fashion, and an apparatus (4) for welding the tightening straps of the two reels in the overlapping zone thereof. The invention allows the strapping medium to be replaced without any or at least with minimized downtimes of machines while keeping the technical effort low.
