Data are transmitted in data frames and at least one position in the data frame is associated with each of the subscribers which participate in the evaluation. Data are transmitted over a plurality of transmission paths, each transmission path forming a ring, a coupling unit being provided for each ring in each of the subscribers which participate in the evaluation in order to couple the data concerning the present subscriber which participates in the evaluation to the at least one position in the data frame provided for that purpose, while the remaining data in the data frame positions to which no data are coupled concerning said subscriber are retransmitted without being processed.
