[origin: WO2005115756A1] The invention relates to a printing unit pertaining to a multi-colour roller rotary press, said printing unit comprising a plurality of double units (03) which are arranged vertically one above the other and respectively consist of two printing groups (04) creating a double print position (05), the printing group cylinders (06, 07) being mounted together in a central stand section (11), and inking systems associated with the printing groups being respectively mounted in outer stand sections (12, 13). The distance between the adjacent stand sections (11, 12, 13) is variable. Printing and transfer cylinders (06, 07) of each printing group (04) are coupled in pairs by means of a toothed wheel connection (22, 23) and are driven in pairs by a separate drive motor (24), the toothed wheel connections (22, 23) of all printing group cylinders (06, 07) of the printing unit (01) being arranged in a common lubricant chamber (29) formed by the central stand section (11) and a cover (28). The inking systems (08) respectively comprise, however, in addition to the rotary drive thereof on the associated outer stand section, at least one separate drive motor (35,43) which is independent of the printing group cylinders (06, 07).
