Abstract (en)

In a manufacturing system utilizing a cigarette maker (4) linked to a packer (5), cigarettes (2) temporarily surplus to requirements are stored in containers (3), each provided with an opening (11) by way of which it can be filled and emptied. An empty container (3) is picked up from a first magazine (27) stocked with a supply of the empty containers, filled with cigarettes (2) at a loading hopper (14), and placed in a second magazine (31) lying alongside the first magazine (27) and holding full containers (3); the transfer movement from the hopper (14) to the second magazine (31) is brought about along a circular path centred on a vertical axis (37) between the magazines, utilizing a rotary mechanism (35) equipped with plates (40, 43) on which the single containers (3) are taken up, filled and carried through the circular trajectory.
