Abstract (en)
In a process to trap and discharge storm water from roads, car parks or airports, the first flush bears a higher pollution load than the subsequent second flush. The first flush is discharged directly to a discrete drain pipe (18) separate from the second flush storm water which is discharged to a second pipe (16). The first flush water bears a higher concentration of pollutants and is directed to a high-performance water treatment system, while the larger volume of second flush storm water is discharged to a filter and thence to a lake, lagoon or river. In a further embodiment the unfiltered second flush storm water is discharged to a drainage well.
