Abstract (en)
The method involves determining a particular magnitude such that one fourth of values of a determined number of signal values are higher or equal to the magnitude and the remaining values are lower or equal to the magnitude. Value of the magnitude is chosen for a signal value to be determined. The determined number is equal to the set of values received from the signal. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for demodulating a signal modulated using a hierarchical 8-phase shift keying modulation (2) a device for estimating a value for a signal formed with a series of values corresponding to the value to be estimated or another value in opposition to the value to be estimated.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif pour estimer une première valeur (+a) d'un signal formé d'une suite de valeurs correspondant soit à ladite première valeur (+a) soit à une deuxième valeur (-a) égale à l'opposé de la première valeur, le signal pouvant prendre d'autres valeurs que lesdites première et deuxième valeurs par suite de bruit.
