Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2006063607A1] Disclosed is a plastic screw-on closure for bottles, especially pressurized beverage bottles. Said closure comprises a cap (1) with a substantially cylindrical internally threaded (3) sleeve (2) that is to be screwed onto the external thread of a bottleneck (4), an essentially spherical disk-shaped top plate (5), and a substantially cylindrical first sealing strip (6) which extends in an axial direction from the interior face of the top plate (5). The maximum outer diameter of said sealing strip (6) matches or is slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the bottleneck while the inner diameter thereof is clearly smaller than the outer diameter of the bottleneck. A bulge (7) which has an approximately cylindrical interior face (8) and whose maximum inner diameter equals and is preferably somewhat smaller than the sum of the outer diameter of the bottleneck and the thickness of the sealing strip (6), is provided radially outside the sealing strip (6), at the transition between the top plate (5) and the sleeve (2) of the closure. The inventive closure further comprises a second sealing strip (9) which is disposed radially inside the cylindrical first sealing strip (6), also extends axially from the interior face of the top plate (5), and sealingly rests against the inner edge (10) of the bottleneck from inside when the closure (4) is screwed onto the bottleneck. According to the invention, the root (11) of the second sealing strip (9) is embodied so narrow on the top plate (5) that the deflecting movements of both sealing strips (6, 9) are largely disconnected from each other when the closure is screwed onto the bottleneck (4) such that practically no forces that reduce the sealing effect of one sealing strip are effective during the deflecting movement of the other sealing strip.
