Abstract (en)
A method for operating a calender with roller(s) heated by a heat transfer medium (HTM) and with a nip between the roller and a counter-element through which a sheet of material passes and is there subjected to elevated pressure and temperature, in which a first part of the heat is supplied to the roller by the HTM a second part is supplied by an inductive heater (IH) which is controlled on the basis of parameters related to paper type. An independent claim is included for a calender as above connected to an HTM supply system, with a heated roller (3) which has an IH (15) acting on its surface and connected to a control unit (19) in which values related to paper type are stored as parameters for controlling the heater (15).
