Abstract (en)
A network device comprising a transmitter for transmitting messages over a communication channel; a processor for determining a number of transmit failures over the communication channel based on a number of messages received in acknowledgement of the transmitted messages, for determining a probability of collision over the communication channel, and for deriving a number of transmit failures over the communication channel resulting from communication channel link quality based on the determined number of transmit failures and the probability of collision over the communication channel; and a selector for selecting a transmit rate over the communication channel based on the derived number of transmit failures over the communication channel resulting from communication channel link quality.
