Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2005113326A1] The invention relates to a method for reducing the friction of water on the hull of a ship, in particular inland shipping, according to which a gas is introduced below the water level (10, 10', 10'') between the hull and the surrounding water. The inventive method is characterised in that the gas is introduced into the water in an upper region of the hull close to the water level and that whilst the ship is in motion the introduced gas is guided aft in a resultant stream of water along the hull into a lower lying region of said hull, in particular under the bottom of the ship. The invention also relates to a device for reducing the friction of water on the hull of a ship.
