Abstract (en)
The assembly procedure for a munition (1) with a shell case containing a granular propellant charge (4), a projectile (2) and igniter (5), includes rotation of the case about its lengthwise axis (16) after the charge has been introduced by a dosing tool following location of the igniter. The rotation creates a hollow (14) in the charge with a parabolic inner surface (13) to receive the tail end (2b) of the projectile. The projectile is fitted with a ring (9) that is fixed to the open end of the case by friction welding.
