[origin: WO2005110878A1] The invention relates to a free-standing bag and a method for production of a free-standing bag from a thermoplastic plastic film (31), comprising a front wall (2, 34) and a back wall (3, 35), connected to each other by side stitchings (9, 21, 22, 29) to form a filling opening (12, 28) and an inwardly-folded base (6, 36), in the collapsed state of the bag (1, 18, 24, 30). The inwardly-folded base (6, 36) comprises a front wall fold (37) and a back wall fold (38), both folds (37, 38) are welded to the side stitching (9, 21, 22, 29) and, in the region of the inwardly-folded base (6, 36), an assembly strip (7, 33) is applied, made from a reinforced plastic film (7, 19, 33). The assembly strip (7, 19, 33) ends with a separation (B) before the side welds (9, 21, 22, 29), whereby a reinforcing strip (8, 20, 25, 32) is applied, in particular glued to the front wall (2, 34) and the back wall (3, 35) in the region of the filling opening (12, 18) on the inner and/or the outer side.
