Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2005116556A1] The invention relates to a device for drying objects (202), especially painted vehicle bodyworks, comprising a drying chamber (208) whose inner space is filled with an inert gas atmosphere. One inlet lock chamber (214) is at least temporarily connected to the normal atmosphere prevailing outside the device and at least temporarily to the inert gas atmosphere prevailing in the drying chamber (208). A conveyor system moves the objects (202) through the inlet lock chamber (214) into the drying chamber (208) and out of said drying chamber. At least one chamber (214) has at least one limiting wall (244) that has a form matching the object (202) to be dried that can be moved towards and away from the object (202) located on the chamber (214). This makes it possible to keep to a minimum the amount of the relatively expensive inert gas that is needed to operate the device.
