The device has a drive-belt pulley (14) and an output-drive pulley (15) that are held by a base plate (10), an arm (16) and a drive motor (11) such that an axis-center distance between two axes of the pulleys is constant. A drive belt (17) couples the drive-belt pulley with the output-drive pulley. A clutch (19) is provided between the drive motor and the pulley (14) and/or between the pulley (15) and a tool holder (24) to transmit driving torque and to balance changing or vibration misalignment between an axis of the holder and the pulley (15).

Eine fahrbare Schneidvorrichtung weist einen Antriebsmotor (11) zum Erzeugen eines Antriebsdrehmoments, eine Getriebeeinrichtung (8) zum Übertragen des Antriebsdrehmoments und eine Werkzeughalterung (24) auf. Zu der Getriebeeinrichtung (8) gehört ein mit dem Antriebsmotor (11) gekoppeltes Antriebselement (14), ein Abtriebselement (15) und eine das Antriebselement (14) mit dem Abtriebselement (15) koppelnde Drehmomentübertragungseinrichtung (17). Das Antriebselement (14) und das Abtriebselement (15) sind durch eine steife Trägereinrichtung (16, 10, 11) derart gehalten, dass die Relativlage zwischen dem Antriebselement (14) und dem Abtriebselement (15) auch im Betrieb der Schneidvorrichtung im Wesentlichen konstant ist. Zwischen dem Antriebsmotor (11) und dem Antriebselement (14) und/oder zwischen dem Abtriebselement (15) und der Werkzeughalterung (24) ist eine Ausgleichseinrichtung (19) vorgesehen, zum im Wesentlichen drehsteifen Übertragen des Drehmoments und zum Ausgleichen eines Radialversatzes zwischen einer in die Ausgleichseinrichtung (19) hineinführenden Achse und einer aus der Ausgleichseinrichtung (19) herausführenden Achse.
