[origin: WO2005118182A1] Disclosed is a continuous casting plant comprising at least one robot for carrying out process-controlled or automated interventions on said continuous casting plant and the associated auxiliary devices. In order to ensure optimal use of the robot, - a track (7) is assigned to the continuous casting plant, - a running gear (10) that is movably guided on the track is allocated to the robot, - at least one parked position (P1, P2) and at least two operating positions (E, E1, E2, E3) are defined for the robot on the track while working zones (A1, A2, A3, A4) which can be reached only from one operating position are assigned to each operating position on the continuous casting plant, - the distance between each operating position of the robot and the assigned working zone or supply zone (V1, V2, V3) is defined within the minimum and maximum range of the robot arm (15), and - the robot is equipped with a data transceiver device (20, 21) which is connected in a signaling manner to a central guiding apparatus or a process computer (19) of the continuous casting plant. The invention further relates to a method for operating a continuous casting plant by incorporating at least one robot which can be displaced on a track between a parked position and at least two operating positions.
