[origin: WO2005113273A1] A stabiliser for a motor vehicle has a stabiliser (1) tied to the car body and connected on each side of the vehicle to a piston-cylinder unit (4, 4') by means of a wheel suspension element. Each of the piston-cylinder units (4, 4') comprises at least one piston (8) arranged so as to slide in a cylinder (7), the piston (8) subdividing the cylinder (7) into a first and a second mutually separated cylinder chambers (7a, 7b). One end of the piston-cylinder units (4, 4') is joined in an articulated manner to one end of the stabiliser (1) and the other end is joined in an articulated manner to the wheel suspension element. The invention is characterised in that at least one connection line (14) is arranged in the at least one piston (8) and connects the first and second cylinder chambers (7a, 7b), in that a one-way return valve (15) is arranged in the at least one connection line (14) and in that the piston (8) can be moved into at least one end position
