[origin: WO2005113367A1] The invention relates to a top for glass jars or tins having a screw-lock or twist-lock mechanism (3) for sealing the content of the glass jar or tin in an air-tight manner. Said top comprises a rubber or plastic seal between the inside of the top and the upper peripheral edge of the glass jar or tin (1). The inventive top is characterized in that a discoid plate (6, 6', 6'') having a continuous opening or alternatively no opening is inserted between the top (2) and the upper edge (5) of the glass jar or tin. The peripheral edge representing the upper edge of the glass jar or tin is configured to form a tight seal with the discoid plate when the glass jar or tin is closed. The opening (7) of the plate (6) is associated with a seal (8, 10, 13) facing the inside of the top and blocking air from penetrating the opening.
