[origin: WO2005118446A1] The invention relates to a stretcher roller (1) for expanding traveling flexible web material (3a). The inventive stretcher roller (1) comprises a roller body that is provided with an outer surface (5) which encompasses a taper (8a, 8b) located between the ends of the roller body. Surprisingly, said taper has a positive effect on the result of the stretching process insofar as the formation of creases in the film, e.g. by incisions applied to the film, is reduced particularly in the zone of the taper (8a, 8b).
