Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2005105878A1] Disclosed is an insulating material, especially a thermally insulating material, preferably for wrapping/covering conduits, particularly gas pipes, water pipes, ventilation ducts, air-conditioning ducts, or similar, and coating and/or producing transport boxes and/or catering boxes, said insulating material being provided with a coating that contains plastic. The aim of the invention is to create a permanently protective coating for insulating material and/or thermally insulating material preferably for wrapping conduits, ventilation ducts, or air conditioning ducts. Said aim is achieved by the fact that the coating comprises, or is especially made of a seamless permanently flexible elastomer layer which is formed at least substantially from a self-reactive polyurethane-based and/or polyurea-based two-component plastic that is first applied to the insulating and/or thermally insulating material in a liquid state and is then transformed from a liquid state into a solid state by means of exothermal self-reaction.
