[origin: WO2005096433A2] The invention relates to an improved planar antenna, especially a patch antenna (1), which comprises an electrically conductive ground plane (2); a first dielectric substrate layer (3) arranged on said ground plane (2) and having a first relative permittivity; at least one electrically conductive effective area (4) arranged on the first dielectric substrate layer (3) and electrically connected to one end (5a) of an electrically conductive feed line (5); at least one second dielectric substrate layer (6) arranged on the effective area (4) and having a second relative permittivity; whereby the second relative permittivity is larger or equal the first relative permittivity.
