[origin: WO2005120286A1] The invention relates to an irradiation device for curing polymerisable compounds that have been applied to fingernails or toenails, said device using light emitting diodes (LEDs), which emit blue or UV-A light, for the irradiation process. The irradiation device can comprise a housing consisting of plastic or metal. A support surface, which is situated on a base plate (3) and supports a hand or foot (2), can be inserted into said housing in an appropriate position, so that the fingernails or toenails can be irradiated from above with the blue or UV-A light that is emitted by the light emitting diodes (7). The protective hood (4) that covers the fingernails or toenails can be fixed or swung open.
