[origin: US2007039442A1] A cutting unit for trimming sheet material has a sheet material support and at least one cutting device adjacent to which is arranged a holddown for pressing the sheet material onto the sheet material support. The holddown is movable between a raised initial position and a pressing position offset toward the sheet material support. The holddown is acted upon in the direction toward the pressing position by a force intensification lever which is manually actuable in such a way that the force exerted in that context is transferred in intensified fashion to the holddown.
