[origin: WO2005121544A1] The invention relates to a fuel injector (1) which is used to inject fuel into the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine. The fuel injector (1) comprises an injection valve member (9) which can be actuated directly by means of a piezoactuator (8). Said injection valve member is introduced into a nozzle body (3) of the fuel injector (1) and can be adjusted by a spring element (15) in the closed position. A hydraulic transmission arrangement (12, 14) is provided between the piezoactuator (8) and the injection valve member (9) in order to adapt the force which is to be applied by the piezoactuator (8) to the opening force characteristic of the injection valve member (9).
